The Season is Upon Us Folks!
Every year (Almost) I like to post a few items that will make your horse person smile.

- The Green Horseman’s Recommended Gifts Under $50 – 2018
- Holiday Gifts Under $50 for the Horse Lover -2017
I won’t lie, many of the suggestions are pretty similar year to year but I do try to change it up a bit. The lasting ideas are just THAT GOOD.
This year I’m making a BIG list of items. The items fit a wide range of budgets even those with a bigger wallet than my own.
Physical Items:
These are the items you get to wrap and unwrap.
- Heated Vest: We are outside for hours…we horsemen and women of the north get chilled even if we properly layer. Heated vests are a luxury item we could all appreciate.
- Ororo Wear ($150 or giftcards)
- New Leather Wallet or Bag: These can be pricey but nice leather goods are beautiful. Calyse repurposes old saddles.
- Tucker Tweed ($100+)
- Calyse Handmade Bags ($65 wallet and $740+ bags)
- Art: Art comes in many forms and is unique to the person. I was a lucky recipient of a beautiful custom piece created by my friend. It is so special to me and I will forever cherish it.

- Ribbon Holder: For the horse person who competes in horse shows!
- Home | Stitches & Spurs ($65)
- Helmet Spray: Our heads are protected by our helmets day in and day out. Over time they can develop a funk, but helmet spray can eliminate the odors and even stop fungal/bacterial growth. These sprays are worth every penny, smell nice, and are usually made with natural essential oils.
- Clothing: Preference in clothing varies greatly depending on the person. Here’ one of my favorite brands!
- Novella Equestrian ($30+)
- Books: Books are for anyone. It doesn’t matter the discipline or the age of the horseperson there is a book for anyone. Fiction. Nonfiction. How-to. Biographical. Physical books, Audiobooks, Kindle books. I’ve enjoyed a little bit of each. Check out the publisher below or if you’d like to know some of my favorites lately I’ll link the reviews below. Also feel free to peruse my Book Club!
- Puzzle Book ($15): This is a puzzle book I published myself. I made this one after finishing an entire horse puzzle book in only 3 hours. This puzzle book is challenging.

- Equestrian Journal ($30): I also published this journal myself. This is an 18 month journal and helps you log your rides and goals. The beginning sections are for vet records, farrier, dental, vaccination logs, tack logs, feeding regimens, and more! There are 18 monthly calendars inside as well as a weekly calendar. Every 13 weeks is an opportunity to check in with your goals. At the end I use this journal to take notes when I attend clinics. I love this book for organizing my records throughout the year!

- Stall Sign: A shameless plug for my business. What I love about the stall signs is that they are easier to ship than most of what I sell!
- Wahbee’s Woodworking ($35-55)

- Jumps: I tend to do a lot of trainer jumps throughout the year but the holidays are especially popular. I create custom packages…whether it’s just a plank to a full jump set. These are often organized by a who barn family or lesson program.
- Wahbee’s Woodworking ($200+)

- Jewelry
- Eija Lindsey ($100+)
- Meal Kits: Horse people are BUSY meaning we often don’t have time to care for ourselves properly. Cooking is not usually high on our priorities even though we toil tirelessly on meal-prepping for our equine companions. Nice meals are a luxury. Get your horseperson a meal kit or two! I used to get Home Chef myself and I absolutely loved it. There are meals that are as simple as combine and put in the oven! And the food was always fresh.
- Horse Treats
- Zero Proof Horse Treats ($10+)
- Unicorn Poop
- Local Horse Cookie Makers in your area
- Sweet Treat Boutique
- Mare Modern Goods: This unique site offers home goods, clothes and more.
- Home – Mare Modern Goods ($20+)
- Dapplebay: Like above this brand offers a variety of wonderful items. Matchy matchy clothing and tack sets as well as fun accessories.

- Reins for Rescues: This group sells some nice quality reins and 100% of the proceeds go to help the rescue horses at Triple Dream farm.

- Cheeky Horse Tote: I can also tuck this in the art but at Equine Affaire this year we enjoyed seeing the stickers and handbags of Sona Equestrian. The art is adorable and the phrases make you smile. There’s something for everyone here.

Experiences for the Rider:
Maybe the thought of physical items and more “THINGS” isn’t what you have in mind. Being minimal and based on the experience is a great concept too…eliminate the clutter.

- Subscriptions: For the rider who is always learning
- Ride IQ ($30,$80,$300)
- Noelle Floyd ($200,$400)
- Lessons: If your horse-y person rides with a trainer talk to the trainer about purchasing a number of sessions.
- Clinic: Does your horsey person have a clinic they want to attend? Offer to pay the clinic fees!

- Massage or Bodywork
- Bodywork for the Horse
- Membership Dues
- Local Riding Clubs
- Trailer or Truck Maintenance: Find out what needs to be done and offer to pay for it.
- Photography Session: A picture is worth a thousand words. Or more. A photo session with a professional photographer is a meaningful gift that will last a lifetime. If you live in the Upstate New York area you can check out these talented artists, otherwise check around your own neighborhood for suggestions.
- A Horse-y Vacation: Horse people have dreams and bucket lists. Sometimes that’s getting away from the norm and doing something different.
- Ridin’ Hy Ranch (Summer rates as low as $184/night pp with 2 required nights)
- Active Riding Trips ($225+)
- Voucher/Offer for a Petsitter to Get Away: Just because a horse person wants to get away doesn’t make it easy. Pet sitting…quality pet sitting is not cheap.

The Free Option:
HELP.
Pick up a pitchfork and start chucking. Help feed. Help sweep the aisle. There is nothing better than a GOOD helper. You might need to learn the routine and how to do things to a certain standard…but your horsey loved one will be so grateful to have your help.
Maybe it’s not mucking stalls. Maybe you can help by cooking or cleaning the house. Or grooming at a horse show. Or use your other talents to really make a difference if that person’s life.
