While I’ve been in recovery from surgery I have been working on a secret project.
Actually TWO!
As a horse lover and a lover of puzzles, I wanted to create a challenging puzzle book for horse lovers. I started by making lists. I also LOVE lists. I listed all of the topics and related words I could think of from the equine industry.
Once I finished making my lists I assembled some puzzles thanks to a helpful website that charged a reasonable fee to make commercial-use puzzles.
Next, I formatted and here we are! Published! The cover photo I took of Tiger at our Ellisa Wallace clinic last month. Read about that here: Recovery
Stall Rest is a softcover book. It encompasses many areas of the equine industry so it can be enjoyed by anyone in any discipline. I intentionally made the word searches tougher because I like a challenge. There are some tougher puzzles made for knowledgeable horsepeople but I think they are all do-able.

I didn’t stop there.
In the past, I’ve seen some horse journals that I thought were a great idea. I aimed to make a journal that might not be as elaborate or pricey as the others but still thorough.
This journal is a HARDCOVER so it’ll keep better. It begins with all of the important contact numbers followed by some basic references on horse vitals that are great to have on hand. After this, there are logs for routine checks, feed, vet, dental, farrier, saddle fitting, deworming chiropractic, and show logs. The logs are basic and simple but the more detail used by the individual the better. These sections are condensed into an easy-to-find section so the user can note everything in one place and it makes it easier to spot any trends or issues.
Moving toward the actual calendar parts we get to a goals section where you get to write about goals, barriers, and more. Finally, the calendar is separated week by week, Monday through Sunday (so the weekends are kept together). On the other facing page is an area where the user can write about their week. Their training, lessons, and anything else they are thinking about.
Every 13 weeks I put in a Goals CHECK-IN page for users to reflect on how they are doing on their goals and make any corrections if they need to….since things don’t always go as planned. I did NOT get to ride a start horse trials this year thanks to my injury. Things happen! These check-in pages are space to set new goals or revise the current ones.
Each week also has a new quote, I hand-picked these quotes from some of my favorite horsemen and women, authors, and more. I hope these can be used to inspire people to stay on track…or even lift them up.
At the end of the journal, I included a few pages. Some of the pages are free writing and others have writing prompts. This is a “for fun” section to help people think outside the box, live mindfully, and just enjoy journalling.
This 170 pages book is also on Amazon and you can buy it now here: https://a.co/d/6nXHYBp
