Buy a Horse Book Day!

Today is a very special day for horse lovers.

May 10th is Buy a Horse Book Day.

This year we are celebrating and honoring Marguerite Henry, one of the best and most prolific horse book authors of all time.

As a kid, I remember reading Misty of Chincoteague, Stormy, Misty’s Foal, King of the Wind, and Sea Star. Those titles just barely scratch the surface. Marguerite authored 59 books.

Misty of Chincoteague is the reason that I will someday make my way to Assateague Island to see the ponies for myself. I’ve been dreaming of it ever since reading the book as a child. I was hooked. My mom would come to check on me at night to make sure I was sleeping. More often than not I’d be huddled by my nightlight reading.

As a life-long horse lover, I am also a life-long horse book lover. That’s why I took the step to become an Affiliate with Trafalgar Square Books. Year after year I visit the Trafalgar Square Books stand at Equine Affaire to see what’s new and typically bring several books home with me. TSB is a very small group of horsepeople that publish horse books written by experts in their field. The operation is in Vermont and has been going strong for over 40 years with 16-20 new titles released each year. Becoming an affiliate was a no-brainer!

This month Trafalgar Square Books is releasing a tribute to Marguerite Henry. The new book “Dear Readers and Riders” is a biography authored by Lettie Teague. The book will include the story and photos of Marguerite’s life as a popular writer.

Marguerite Henry was a legend…and I know I’m lining up to purchase this new release!
