OVERVIEW:

Years ago I was in search of cross-country boots to go hunter-pacing with. I wanted something that breathed but something that would protect from blows to the logs and solid obstacles we would encounter. Social media got me onto Majyk Equipe way back then, with a wonderful set of turquoise cross-country boots…and the ballistic bell bools to match!

I still have that set but they are stored somewhere in the barn not well appreciated. But since those days I now own a pair of black and Kelly green boots (they were special edition and no longer made), and Tiger shows with a set of white and royal blue (also a special edition).

Majyk Equipe is a company based in California. They design and engineer their materials from scratch. They use extensive studies in order to create high quality and safe items for horse and rider.

What’s really won me over is their neoprene-free promise. Studies have shown neoprene traps heat, moisture, and bacteria. Majyk uses a unique biofoam that may look like neoprene but it is nothing like it. The biofoam releases heat and moisture. You can go through a water complex and the boots won’t retain water.

The boots are ventilated using a unique mesh design that allows air to escape without sacrificing trauma protection. The company has sent its boots for strike tests and blunt force trauma tests, outperforming several well-known brands.

In addition to the protective tests, Majyks boots have outperformed traditional leg protection for heat dissipation. We are always worried about having too much heat buildup in the legs as it can lead to injury. Repeated exposure to higher temperatures can alter the metabolism of cells within the tendons. the higher heat within the legs creates weaker tendons overall, so it’s with very good reason I am selective about booting my horses. Heck, I don’t even boot them when I’m doing a low-key hack on a hot day.

A couple years ago I remember sitting for a Majyk Equipe webinar and although I don’t remember the specifics I do remember the overall impression I had after the talk. Majyk Equipe boots are backed by science and data.

I was pretty convinced the Majyk Equipe’s XC boots were a leading choice, but it also helps that they have a few options for personalization. there are about 6-10 color choice options at any given time. The primary color is normally black and the colors are typically accented within the mesh. On a rare occasion, you’ll see something different, like Tiger’s white boots with blue mush. I was thrilled they launched my green set right as I chose green for Stanley’s colors (Blade, Nahe, and Tiger have all been royal blue so I needed a change).

Alternatives:

  • Arma
  • Roma
  • Lemieux Carbon Air
  • Professionals Choice

Final Word:

I’ve owned a couple pairs of Majyk Equipe XC boots at this point, and Suzanne uses them on Tiger. Her trainer also uses them on her horses. Majyk is an American company (the name is a tribute to their late Dutch Warmblood mare Majyk Motion).

I really appreciate the legwork (pun intended) that Majyk puts into the design of these boots, and they are used by the USA Eventing Team. The boots are designed for airflow, and heat dissipation, they are antimicrobial, but they are also protective of impacts.

In addition to the stuff that matters I love the color options, they got the most important features figured out and still had enough to offer a few unique color options.

I hadn’t mentioned it before but I also love how easy they are to clean! The white ones especially clean well (Suzanne does a great job of cleaning them after each XC school or competition).

Horses legs are super important, and galloping cross country puts them at greater risk. That’s why I trust and recommend the Majyk Equipe XC boots.

If you’d like more information on the boots feel free to visit the Majyk site below. the link will lead you to the many XC boot options, different colors…pairs….4 packs…etc. The site also offers more information about their studies and their ARTiLAGE technology. https://majykequipe.com/collections/xc-boots

  1. You’re killing me! I have had their boots and loved them on my TBs for years. I went with economic and bought a second hand pair of black/red for my new hony. But I reallllllly want the black/green or the limited edition white/blue that Tiger wears. If those white/blue were still available I’d be done for lol.
