OVERVIEW:

In February 2022 I purchased a pair of DryShod boots.  I was getting tired of my Noble Outfitters boots.  They were torture to get on and off…seriously!  I broke my boot jack to get them off my calves.  The noble outfitters were also not super comfortable and they began to leak within 6-9 months.

Noble Outfitters boots haven’t been BAD. But they wore out fast and could be tedious. I have a habit of settling on something that is “acceptable” in order to prevent the regret of trying something new that might be terrible. I’d gone through a few pairs of the Noble Outfitters and just assumed I’m hard on this type of footwear given my lifestyle.

Finally, my eyes came across a brand that was offered by my local tack store.  I had a birthday coupon for this store and thought “Perfect timing.”  I did BRIEF research and learned the company was founded in 2018.  Cool…New company let’s try it.

I decided to try the Big Bobby boot (I hate the name but if it works who cares).  It boasts large calves which is precisely what I need.  No matter how in or out of shape I get my calves are simply massive.  I struggle to find tall boots, I struggle to find half chaps.  Even mid-calf boots are tight.  I’ve always dreamed of being the type who can simply slip in and out of boots.  I’ve lost hope that dream may ever be reality.

My DryShod Big Bobby boots shipped right to my door and to my surprise my feet slipped right in!  At first I thought I bought a size too big but as I wore them I began to realize they were perfect. The boots were comfortable and remained that way.  In the dead of winter they stayed warm…and even had extra room for thick socks if needed. The sole is one of the most comfortable my feet have ever worn. I can wear these boots all day long and my feet are still comfortable.

I can easily take the boots off.  The design actually allows you to roll down the top of the boot to more easily tuck in your pant legs.  No more struggling to wrap the pant leg around your ankle and hold your foot awkwardly to get it “just right.”

I learned that the founder of this company, Jim Donohue, formerly owned The Muck Boot Company.  Muck Boot Company is a highly regarded boot with many people who waer and recommend them. Jim sold Muck Boot Company in 2013 and has since developed this company. Over the years I imagine Jim has learned and implemented new ideas and technology to deliver an even better boot.  I think he succeeded.

DryShod boots are fully waterproof with an air mesh liner and a hydrophobic exterior called Hydrokote Water Repellant. They have lots of room for comfort and a wonderful sole. The bottom of the boot is a strong durable rubber. The top allows you comfortable movement.

Final Word:

I’ve owned and abused my DryShod Big Bobby boots for well over a year. I’ve gone 12+ hours from farmwork to woodworking. They have paint splattered all over them from when I paint. Aside from the foot insert getting worn out these boots have held up. They are still waterproof. They are still very comfortable. They don’t show signs of giving up on me yet.

I can wholeheartedly recommend DryShod boots. They are well worth their price and I can easily say I will buy them again and again. In fact, since they are affordable, durable, and waterproof, I am probably going to buy myself a pair that is lighter for less wet/muddy work so that my feet can be comfortable AND cool enough in the summertime.

There are lots of options to choose from depending on what you’re using them for and they have boots for the whole family. Find the website at https://dryshodusa.com/
