As a thoroughbred lover for years, I have always dreamed of getting baby photos of the thoroughbreds in my care.

I have searched for Warrior’s Blade.

For Zeno Bay.

For VaiVia.

For R Tom Cat.

For Mr Wrench It.

I’ve looked up breeders and emailed the ones I found with crickets in response.

The Jockey Club launched an all-new app in February called ID My Thoroughbred. If your thoroughbred is registered and has a microchip you can put the number into the app.

The app is just one of the many aftercare initiatives that is being put into use to help track horses after their racing careers. It adds to accountability and traceability.

The app also works with Thoroughbred Connect, which was a new release a year or two ago. This system helps notify the public of horses who need help or allows you to offer assistance to particular horses.

It’s all free to use and I am pretty impressed by all that’s happening to improve the welfare of our beloved horses. I don’t know of many other breed organizations this dedicated to keeping tabs on their horses (Of course there are ones that slip through the cracks but these systems are all new).

I just had to look up my two current horses:

R Tom Cat

THEN

NOW

MR WRENCH IT

THEN

NOW

Having bay boys I’m not surprised they haven’t changed a whole lot. I thought it was interesting that they still have the same body shape as they were as youngsters. Tiger gravitates toward a stout porpoise-like puff. Stanley keeps a lean figure.

This makes me feel a bit better to be honest. I am always trying to put fat and muscle on Stanley. He especially lost so much during his Cornell stay. Through our trip to Aiken he got extra food, and he gets as much hay as he can eat…but he always maintains a leaner frame…and muscle comes slow.

This was a fun app to use and try.

Do you have thoroughbreds? Did you look up your baby photos?
