OVERVIEW:
I have been dying to share this post with you for a while now and I finally have used it enough and tidied up enough to have presentable photos and thoughts.

I first saw this idea presented on Facebook so I can’t take credit but wow, I’m so glad I found it! BONUS points because I was able to find this type of box with the STANLEY BRAND on it. It’s ready for Stanley’s gear!
I present you the Stanley FatMax 4-in-1 Mobile Work Station (https://www.stanleytools.com/product/020800r/stanley-fatmax-4-1-mobile-work-station).
This handy box takes a footprint of 21.6″x16.2″ and stands 24.8″ tall. It has a telescoping handle and 7″ wheels to roll around anywhere you want to go. The top locks with 2 metal latches. The top compartment has a shallow tray on top and a deeper section below. When you collapse the handle you can roll the whole box back to reveal the bottom 2 compartments…no additional horizontal surfaces needed! The middle compartment has adjustable trays with 4 removable dividers….you can have anywhere between 4 and 8 slots. The bottom is a deep compartment that will hold more than you think.
When I research this as of 2022-2025 you can find these at or around $100 brand new, some slightly higher, some slightly lower.

I love that I don’t have to lift the top compartments up on off in order to access the bottom ones. I just have everything I need in one place. That makes it really handy.
With the amount we travel (more than some, less than others) I prefer to travel “light.” I like having what I need but with less trips and “baggage.” This box has been a GAME CHANGER! Trail rides, clinics, schooling shows. Just load this up with my tack and helmet and we’re ready to roll.
Let’s begin with the top compartment. I keep essential grooming items and anything I want to access quickly up top. In the shallow tray I have clipper blades, an extra double end snap, hoof pick, weight tape, thermometer, mane comb and more.
Below the shallow tray are the other grooming essentials, mane/tail brush, other brushes, wire hoof brush, wet face wipes, sweat scraper and more.
When I open up the lower compartments I revel the middle trays. Here I store simple first aid solutions. Vet wrap, leg socks, swat, helmet spray, small fly spray, electrolyte paste, wound cream, leather balm and rag, riding gloves, medical armband, hair nets, braining bands, miscellaneous tack items like my Correct Connect hand pieces and a tie blocker ring.
In the bottom compartment I store my ballistic bell boots, XC boots, open front jumping boots, Back on Track splint boots, XC number pinny, fly spray, hoof cleansing spray, linament, poultice and more.

I take this tower with me everywhere I go with Stanley. Sometimes I remove the non-essential items (do I REALLY need 3 sets of boots where I’m going?) and replace with something else. I love traveling with an extra halter and lead so sometimes that will get thrown into the bottom. We simply load our box plus our tack and my rider gear (helmet and boots) and go. This box has cut down on the need for long checklists because I know that what I want to bring is all there (unless it’s a special occasion).
PROS:
- You can access everything in one place.
- Small footprint makes it easy to find a home without taking too much floorspace.
- Rolls with you wherever you need to go
- Carries most things you will need for travel
- Holds A LOT!
CONS
- You’ll probably have to lift it into the trailer even if you have a ramp so it could be heavy….but it’s small enough that it shouldn’t be too bad.
- I don’t put boots back there right away because they often have to dry and air out.
- To clean it out you need to either empty it and tip it over or vacuum it.
- At its full extension you may need 3ft of space…but it’s really unlikely you need to keep it fully extended for terribly long anyway.

Alternatives:
- Craftsman
- Dewalt
Final Word:
If you enjoy having all of your gear organized in one place look no further. This Stanley Cantilever Tool Box is a huge upgrade from the traditional tack trunk. I found Tack trunks to be difficult to keep things organized. With my Stanley cantilever tool box I have a small footprint and a whole lot of organized areas for my little items. It’s amazing how much this little guy will hold…and I can find it all in a matter of seconds! I still use trunks to store blankets and saddle pads but this has the essentials all in one place and ready to roll to the stall or on the trailer wherever we go. I simply love it.
I 110% recommend this box to anyone. It’s affordable, portable, and versatile. It doesn’t matter what discipline you ride. It doesn’t matter it you ride at all. It’s nice to know that you’re saving space as well as time while being tidy.
