OVERVIEW:

I recently bought new saddles…and they are black. That means I needed to order new black tack. Leathers, girth, bridle, you name it.

I’ve been riding with the Rambo Micklem bridle for years so I thought I’d branch out and try something new. I ordered the Correct Connect Pro-Fit Bridle.

Unfortunately, the bridle I ordered was out of stock indefinitely, it had a crystal browband. The email managed to get filtered into junk mail so I didn’t see it. I got a call about a week later from a customer service representative who left a message about it.

First of all…Amazing follow up! This type of customer service is dying out but how nice it is to still see it in the wild.

I called Jaclyn back and we chatted about the situation. She was able to send me the black bridle with the clincher browband instead. Definitely not my style but I don’t plan to keep the browband all that long, anyway. I took the offer so I could get the bridle in.

I received the bridle in a day or two after that. No flash, odd. I didn’t think much about it until he was evading the bit and opening his mouth in our lesson. Then my trainer recommended a flash but I didn’t have one. Only a ride later I noted the clincher chain falling off of the bridle.

I had great service at the start so I emailed customer service and sent them a photo. In what felt like minutes I had a new browband and flash in the mail.

Stanley is a typical horse. He’s a 16h thoroughbred with a good sized head. Tiger tends to be cob sized with his refined features but not Stanley. I found the bridle to be generously sized. He is nearly on the last buckle on ever setting (smallest). I actually have to punch holes in the nose and flash just to make them fit properly…the flash I do loosely because I don’t like cranking him closed (it’s there as a reminder) but the way it came he kept slipping it over his muzzle.

The leather is high quality and I like the padding. The nose takes some time to break in because it was stiff at first. After we got our flash and fit figured out Stanley goes very nicely in it.

PROS:

  • Fantastic Customer Service
  • Quality Leather
  • Padded
  • Reins are excellent, grippy, soft
  • Affordable

CONS

  • Runs large
  • Clincher fell apart
  • Flash was missing
  • “Hidable” flash piece was not truly hidable

Final Word:

I spent a lot of money on tack this year and having a new black bridle was on the list of items I needed. I was looking for value. I wanted padding, quality, and comfort but I needed to be smart about how much I spent.

The Correct Connect bridle was a good choice. Sure I had some hiccups but the customer service was unbeatable. Stanley appreciates the fit and responds well. I have good connection and feel with it. It’s attractive, well made; good quality.

If you’re looking for value I do say this is a decent choice. I recently noticed the website is limited on sizes so I don’t know how long they will last or if they plan to restock.
